Getting Involved: Alumni Support
Alumni of Royal Holloway, Bedford and the combined Colleges provide volunteer support to the College and the Alumni Relations Programme by helping to plan reunions, advising current and prospective students, organising alumni groups, serving on committees and becoming involved in many other areas of College life.
Here are just some of the ways alumni can stay involved with life in the College, while also helping us to build a more inclusive alumni community:
Careers Services
Our alumni have gone on to achieve great things, many recognised as leaders in their field. Whatever field or level, our alumni can offer valuable advice and support to students and recent graduates as they move to a professional life in very difficult times.
Alumni often give talks on their work experiences, offer mentoring or placement opportunities, all providing valuable support of a type that is not easily available. As well as directly benefitting the students or graduates involved, this kind of support helps us maintain our exceptional standing in the student employability leagues.
If you would lto share your skills and experience with students and new graduates, if you can offer work experience within your organisation or if you would like to participate in the Career Service's programme of seminars, please fill in our Alumni Careers Support form or email alumni@rhul.ac.uk.
Events Support
The Development & Alumni Relations department runs a rich programme of events throughout the year which you can read about here. Whether it is help organising the event itself, or assistance with contacting fellow alumni and ensuring that they come along too, the support of alumni volunteers is crucial. If you are interested in assisting with events and reunions, please contact us at alumni@rhul.ac.uk.
Student Recruitment
Royal Holloway and Bedford New College offers a university experience unlike any other, as we're sure you will agree. Maybe its our small family atmosphere and exceptionally beautiful campus, or maybe its the excellence in teaching and research that the College continues to deliver. Being able to recruit students from all backgrounds and all countries is important to the College not just financially, but in order to maintain the vibrant mix within the student community. We also want to attract the very best students as we strive to deliver the very best education.
All these activities depend on us communicating what RHBNC is to students and what it can offer. Our alumni know first hand what the answer to this question is and by getting involved with student recruitment events you get to share your knowledge and experiences with prospective students making an important choice. We know that our alumni enjoy the experience and we know that prospective students really value having a first-hand account of life at RHBNC.
Internationally, the Development and Alumni Relations Department is working with Royal Holloway International to link alumni with the recruitment programme which visited over 20 countries in the last year alone. If you would like to support these activities and have a very rewarding experience doing so, please contact us at alumni@rhul.ac.uk. |
