To focus OHP's most models have a knob on the arm at the back right of the machine, rotating this knob moves the image in and out of focus also there is usually another knob on the front panel which when rotated changes the colour fringe of the image which also helps. All OHP's used at RH have two bulbs and to change over it is usually a slider lever from left to right situated on the front panel. Could you please contact Audio Visual when you have changed bulbs so we can replace the bulb before both are blown.
All slide projectors used at RH use a rotating magazine. To load your slides first check the magazine is reset to 0, then look at your slide with the image correct and turn upside down before putting in the magazine. Place the magazine firmly on the slide projector matching the cutout with the slot on the projector.
All of the data projectors installed at RH are turned on/off with a remote control found on the top of the equipment racks except where a control system is fitted. Please note it may take up to 30 seconds before you see an image. There should be instructions for use with all installations please let us know if these are missing. Please switch off the projectors when you have finished.
LaptopsWe are experiencing a high level of calls relating to video issues with user's laptops. If you have a new laptop or have had trouble connecting to the AV system please contact us and we can arrange a time to test - common problems include no signal or the projector acting as an extension of your desktop rather than showing the same image as your laptop screen.

If you plan to use video embedded within Powerpoint we advise that you use one of the supported formats (avi, wmv). Other formats should be converted where possible or played outside of Powerpoint to ensure they display correctly. Lecture room PCs are equipped to playback flash, quicktime, real and many other formats - if you find that you have to update any of the software to playback your files please inform us so that we can make the update permanent.
Presentations created on a Mac can occasionally cause problems with picture and graphics not being displayed (often with a note saying a quicktime plug-in is required). To resolve the problem the graphics need to be converted on the MAC. First save a new version of the file on your MAC. Select an offending picture. Under Edit, select Picture Object - a message comes up "This is an imported picture, not a group. Convert it to a Microsoft Office drawing?". Click YES. Do this for all offending pictures. Save this new file. Transfer to PC and all pictures should display correctly.
