SU President

Drama and Theatre Studies graduate, Greg Harris, 22, from Sway in the New Forest, is the recent Students' Union President at Royal Holloway, University of London.

'Royal Holloway is different to most universities that I have visited. It has a community atmosphere unparalleled by any other institution and that is why I have enjoyed my time here so much. The college certainly has personality, but it also has some big ideas.

I came to Royal Holloway with the sole purpose of gaining a degree. This attitude changed very quickly as I realised that university can be so much more than just your life as an academic. Getting involved in various activities offered by the Students' Union and making so many new friends became increasingly important. The relatively calm atmosphere of the college enabled me to develop and learn as well as to do studies.

I would recommend Royal Holloway as a sound academic establishment and for me it has been a good place to live. My best advice to you is to try and get to an open day. It helps to get a feel for the place before you opt to spend three or more years studying here.

Good luck in your application...'

Greg was elected to his full-time post by the students of Royal Holloway, having played an active role in university life during his three years of study. He played for the College rugby team, presented on the student radio, 1287am Insanity, and participated in the Musical Theatre Society and in the Drama & Theatre Department productions.

Royal Holloway's Students' Union has an extremely active events programme, sports and student participation. It holds one of the most highly-regarded Summer balls in the UK, excellent sporting facilities and among the highest election turnouts in the country. There are also over 90 enthusiastic societies and sports clubs on campus.
