previous form and from 1st July 2006 all new hazardous substances
must be assessed using this version.
Procedure

'Infections at Work' - HSE website which provides links to the home pages for two sites that contain information relating to microbiological safety. These sites cover occupationally-acquired infections and the contained use of genetically modified organisms.
Lifting
and carrying assessment checklist (Version 2) - supercedes
previous assessment form (Annex 2 in the Policy and Procedure).
Should be used for the assessment of tasks involving the lifting
and carrying of loads. Copies of the worked example (Annex 3 in the Policy and Procedure) can be obtained from the Health and Safety Office (pdf version).
Manual Handling flowchart - the following flowchart has been developed
to assist departments in identifying the actions necessary to manage
the risks from manual handling
First
Aid Signs - for providing the contact details and locations
of first aiders in the Department or neighbouring Departments so
they can be easily contacted in an emergency. You must have a colour
printer. If not copies of the signs are available from the Health
and Safety Office.

Working
at Height flowchart - the following flowchart has been developed
to assist departments in identifying the actions necessary to manage
the risks from working at height
Generic
risk assessment - use of stepladders - a generic risk assessment
for using a stepladder in the office environment. This assessment
can be adapted for assessing the specific circumstances within a
department
Working
at Height - Practical guidance for departments - The following
document give examples of generic good practice and should be adapted
to suit the specific work being undertaken following a suitable
and sufficient risk assessment
