MADD 2009 took place on Friday 23rd October 2009 with over 100 volunteers from Royal Holloway, University of London getting involved with over 10 projects - our biggest MADD yet! It formed part of Get Involved week which aimed to see many new volunteers get started with projects and opportunities in the local community.

The flagship project of the day, Merlewood Sunken Garden, was completed in partnership with Enterprise-Rent-A-Car volunteers and Royal Holloway volunteers (including members of Men's Rugby and the Dance Society), and even fot a visit from The Mayor of Runnymede!

Throughout the day project teams completed over 300 hours of volunteering in the local community including;

"Surrey Police are committed to working with the College and the volunteering projects undertaken by the students, and thank them for their support of the community. Not only did the volunteers leave the property in an excellent state, but Mrs Wallage thoroughly enjoyed the company of the students throughout the day." Debbie Haylor PCSO 12683 - Pooley Green Safer Neighbourhood Team
"Please pass on our huge thanks for all the hard work that the volunteer teams did as they have made a big difference and both elderly residents are really pleased with the results. With Mr Down the appearance of his front garden was making him vulnerable to bogus callers and with Mrs Williams the girls cleared the path round to her back door and this will enable her to bring her motorised scooter all the way round to the back door and leave it there securely." Debbie Fuller, Age Concern Spelthorne
"Thankyou for thinking of us, and an even bigger thankyou for what you have done for us. We are soley here for anyone who has any learning or physical disablity, our clients gain alot from the farm. You are all always welcome at the farm!" Lisa Baird, Heathrow Special Needs Farm
